Ernesto Valverde, ceased yesterday at Barcelona, will
receive the Prize for his career.
The Brazil coach will participate in the Bilbao Football Summit |
The coach of the most successful team in the world, Brazil,
will participate on February 13 at the Bilbao International Football Summit
(BIFS) on February 13, as announced on Tuesday the organization of the event, which meets
its fourth edition and this year will have a place in San Mamés. The presence
of Adenor Leonardo Bacchi 'Tite' was an old yearning for Mario Gurrionero, at
the head of the project.
Tite, leading Brazil since 2016 and who won the Copa América'
2019, will give a presentation on leadership. "We are sure that
your successful experience in managing a collective full of stars such as
Neymar, Casemiro, Firmino, Alisson, Marquinhos or Gabriel Jesus will inspire
especially attendees," said Gurrionero.
Tite joins the names already announced and in which Fabio
Capello's presence stands out. The 73-year-old Italian ended his coach's career last spring
after his last experience in the Chinese Jiangsu Suning. In his global record
as a coach, he has a total of 15 titles, among which are nine Leagues, four
Italian Super Cups, one Champions League, and one European Super Cup. The
Belgian coach, Bob Martínez, and the former Barcelona player, Gica Popescu,
will also be protagonists. The organization will release more names in the
coming days.
The BIFS decided weeks ago to give Ernesto Valverde, ceased
yesterday at Barcelona, the Rewarding Prize in its second edition and that last year it was
presented to Mauricio Pochettino. Despite his dismissal, the organization
maintains the award because it is not linked to a punctual sporting situation
but to its contribution and inspiration to football people along a trajectory.
In previous editions, prominent world soccer figures
such as Luiz Felipe Escolari, André Vilas Boas, Julen Guerrero, Luis
Fernández, Mauricio Pochettino, Unai Emery, Xabi Alonso, Julen Lopetegui,
Roberto Martínez, Andoni Zubizarreta, Monchi or Aitor Karanka have
passed through this congress.
This international meeting will leave the Iberdrola
Tower in 2020, the scene of the first three editions, to move to the noble area
of San Mamés, a stadium that will be one of the twelve venues of the 2020
Euro Cup that will be held next summer.
«It is a crucial year because Bilbao is one of the twelve
cities that host the European Championship. This event will anticipate
some keys around the world and the business of football and also the role of
cities in a unique European Championship ", reflected Xabier Otxandiano,
Councilor for Economic Development of the City of Bilbao.
